3rd Degree Burns
When I was a child living in the country (on the outskirts of town) in Tulare, California we burned our trash once a week in big metal burn barrels. One weekend when I was 9 or 10 years old. I had an accident while burning the trash and caught myself on fire.
My back, neck, arms, ears, and hair on my head was burned from the waist up. I was in Valley Children's Hospital in Fresno, California for three months in the Intensive Care Burn Center. Earlier, before I had got burned, I had went to a church for a few weeks to get to know this cute girl. She went forward to be baptized so I went forward, we both went and got baptized there. Shortly after, I got burned. While in the burn center their was a little old lady who would come to visit and play games with me quite often during the week after I had breakfast.
I remember asking her why she visited me and she replied that the church I had went to on north Blackstone Avenue in Tulare had sent her. I remember being so very happy that she could come on the days my mom and family couldn't make it. I remember her very fondly, but I couldn't remember her name.
The doctors sent me home after three months, but my mother would continue my care at home for another few months. After few months I could go outside in the sun (heavily covered from sun rays), I told my mother I wanted to go back to that church, and thank the church and that wonderfully nice little old lady that had provided me a hurt child so many hours of fun and attention. (My mom didn't remember her, but how could she, the little old lady came to visit when my mom could not. After all it was a 50 minute drive from my mom's work on weekdays after she worked all day. Visiting had become to wearing on her.)
So, I met with the pastor of the church that had baptized me. I told him about this wonderful little old lady, and that she had visited me so often that it must have cost her a lot of money for fuel to come up five days in a row, every week. I described what she looked like in detail.
The pastor thought long and hard before he spoke. Then as delicately as possible he informed me that the church had not and did not have anyone that attended there that would remotely fit the description that I had given him. My mom said to me in a kind thoughtful way, "you were on morphine and very strong medications you probably were hallucinating." I looked at the pastor and he seemed to be in deep thought. A few moments past when the pastor opened his Bible and said, "I may have an explanation for this situation. I'm not saying you weren't feeling the affects of strong medication, but maybe this might just be of interest to you." And he showed me this Bible verse for the first time, and immediately I knew it was true.
God had provided for my needs, and healed me. The doctors said that I healed so fast from my the third degree burns, and that I didn't need any skin graphs, that someone upstairs must like me. Because my healing was a miracle, and that they had never released a child in three months before.
Hallelujah! Thank YOU Jesus!
Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
King James Bible "Authorized Version", Cambridge Edition
God had provided for my needs, a frightened little boy in a strange hospital stuck in a freezing oxygen "tank" knowing that my mother could only come on the weekends or one evening in the middle of the week. This day I can give testimony to it. I believe God sent an angel to care for me, a scared hurting lonely little boy so far from home trapped in a hospital bed covered by a plastic bubble.
What do you think?
Answer #1. God cared for me and provided an angel to watch over and entertain me.
Answer #2. The strong drugs caused hallucinations.
Answer #3. The whole church was praying for me so much that God heard their prayers and sent an Angel.
(The little old lady said that she was from this church.)
My ultimate question:
Do I want to deny God's provision and care in my life, or give Him His due credit? "Testify"
Do you have a testimony to share?
Please think for a moment, do you have a testimony that you could share that might be just what someone needed to see, hear, or read?
Be bold, testify to the love Jesus Christ has shown you or a loved one or an experience where God revealed himself through his involvement in your life.
